Water Damage occurs in a matter of minutes. If water is left, it starts damaging surfaces and materials within just a few minutes. It is important to take care of water as soon as you see it.

There are times that it can’t be done right away, like in a case of disastrous flooding. Here is a slight breakdown of what type of water damage can occur and how long it can take. I bet you’ll be surprised!

Classes and Categories of Water

CLASS 1 DAMAGE – Very little damage has been caused and will be the easiest for water cleanup.

CLASS 2 DAMAGE – Water evaporates quickly leaving moisture in materials like cushions and carpets. Water restoration becomes more difficult.

CLASS 3 DAMAGE – Water evaporates the quickest and leaves moisture in walls and furniture making it even more difficult for water damage repair.

CLASS 4 DAMAGE – The water damage has likely affected the structure (plaster, flooring, concrete foundation). Damage in this manner requires a licensed Water Damage Restoration Company for effective water mitigation
